Les Superlatifs en Anglais
Le superlatif permet d'exprimer le degré le plus élevé d'une qualité dans un groupe.
Il se forme différemment selon la longueur de l'adjectif.

Adjectifs Courts : the + adj + -est
Pour les adjectifs d'une syllabe, et ceux de deux syllabes terminés par -y.

📏 Mêmes règles orthographiques que le comparatif :
- • Consonne finale doublée si CVC (big → biggest, hot → hottest)
- • -y final → -iest (happy → happiest)
- • -e final → ajouter simplement -st (large → largest)
Adjectifs Longs : the most + adj
Pour les adjectifs de deux syllabes ou plus (sauf ceux en -y).
Superlatifs Irréguliers
good → the best
She is the best student in the class.
bad → the worst
It was the worst day ever.
far → the farthest / the furthest
That's the farthest I've ever run.
little → the least
He has the least experience.
much / many → the most
She has the most friends.
Comparatif vs Superlatif
Comparatif (2 éléments)
"Tom is taller than Lucy."
On compare Tom à Lucy.
Superlatif (3+ éléments)
"Tom is the tallest in the class."
On compare Tom à tout le groupe.
💡 Le superlatif est toujours précédé de the. On utilise souvent in (lieu/groupe) ou of (ensemble) après.
Erreurs Courantes
❌ She is the most tall in the class.
✅ She is the tallest in the class.
Adjectif court = the + -est, pas "the most".
❌ It's the most best film.
✅ It's the best film.
Jamais "the most" + forme irrégulière !
❌ He is tallest in the class.
✅ He is the tallest in the class.
N'oubliez pas "the" devant le superlatif !
