Les Comparatifs en Anglais
Les comparatifs permettent de comparer deux éléments entre eux.
La formation dépend de la longueur de l'adjectif : court ou long.
Taller than, more expensive than, better than, as tall as...

1 syllabe (ou 2 en -y, -er, -ow)
adj + -er + than
tall → taller than

good → better
bad → worse, far → farther
Adjectifs Courts : adj + -er + than
Pour les adjectifs d'une syllabe, et ceux de deux syllabes terminés par -y, -er, -ow, -le.

📏 Règles orthographiques :
- • Consonne finale doublée si CVC (big → bigger, hot → hotter)
- • -y final → -ier (happy → happier, easy → easier)
- • -e final → ajouter simplement -r (large → larger)
Adjectifs Longs : more + adj + than
Pour les adjectifs de deux syllabes ou plus (sauf ceux en -y).
Comparatifs Irréguliers
good → better
Your English is better than mine.
bad → worse
The weather is worse today.
far → farther / further
The school is farther than the shop.
little → less
I have less time than you.
much / many → more
She has more friends than him.
La Construction As...As (aussi...que)
as + adjectif + as
"She is as tall as her brother."
Elle est aussi grande que son frère.
"This exercise is not as difficult as the last one."
Cet exercice n'est pas aussi difficile que le dernier.
"He runs as fast as a cheetah."
Il court aussi vite qu'un guépard.
💡 La forme négative not as...as signifie "moins...que" en français.
Erreurs Courantes
❌ She is more tall than him.
✅ She is taller than him.
Adjectif court = -er, pas "more".
❌ This is more better.
✅ This is better.
Jamais "more" + forme irrégulière !
❌ He is taller as me.
✅ He is taller than me.
Le comparatif utilise "than", pas "as".
